Innovations in Assessment of Students’ Competence in Social Work

Research on innovative methods for educational outcomes assessment are presented based on a conceptualization of holistic competence for social work practice. Challenges to assessment in field education are reviewed and online tools for evaluation of 1) micro practice and 2) macro practice. Finally the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) adapted for Social Work is examined including its development, empirical foundation, and implementation.
